Come to our free event to learn more about using the internet and searching for jobs
If you want help to get online to search for jobs, to gain computer skills and learn about using the internet then come to a special free event at Skelmersdale Library on Thursday 27 March.
After the successful Get Online, Get Ahead Digmoor Community Centre event in January the organisers West Lancashire Challenge and other local organisations are offering more people the chance to learn new computer skills and support people into employment as a result of attending the events.
Everyone is welcome to come along to the library, which is part of Lancashire County Council’s Library Service, between 10am and 1pm where there will be computer and internet demonstrations, help with CV writing and job searches, help to get an email address and advice on getting online at home.
Staff from West Lancashire Borough Council and West Lancs CVS – the partners in West Lancashire Challenge – will be joined by people from West Lancashire College, Job Centre Plus and other organisations to offer advice.
Councillor Owens, portfolio holder for Regeneration, said: “Around 60 people benefitted from help and advice with job searches and getting online at the last event. With demand so high I am delighted that the West Lancashire Challenge and partners are offering more people the opportunity to benefit from a free information session.”
Gill Hughes, West Lancs CVS community development manager, said: “Feedback from the January event has been excellent. Over 85% of those who attended said that they found the information session useful and informative and the most popular aspects included getting information on local job or work clubs, getting information on IT training and finding out about ways to access the internet.”
Free refreshments will be provided at all events and there will be a chance to win prizes including an iPad Mini. To find out more contact West Lancashire Challenge on 01695 712645 or visit business.
West Lancashire Challenge is delivered by a core partnership between West Lancashire Borough Council and West Lancs CVS which helps to create apprenticeships and work experience opportunities in West Lancashire. It also aims to offer one to one support to people facing barriers to employment, training and volunteering, increase participation in volunteering, and build stronger communities.
