Council helps nursery find new home
Children and staff at Giggles Day Nursery are settling into their new surroundings in Inskip, Skelmersdale, after contacting West Lancashire Borough Council for help to find a new base.
The nursery had been based in Westgate since 2009, but the owners were keen to look for somewhere new for the provision to enable them to increase their capacity and provide excellent facilities indoors as well as outdoors.
Cathy Bibby, nursery manager, contacted the Council because they were interested in taking on the former Inskip Meeting Rooms in Birch Green, which was being advertised as a vacant property. Along with her co-owner, Cathy worked with Council officers to secure the new location for their business which will now enable it to grow.
Cathy said: “Our new ‘home’ could have been purpose-built for us and the children and parents really like the new place. We have a great facility for children under two years of age and a separate facility for children aged two and over, which incorporates the much-needed garden we have been seeking.
“We knew the Council were very helpful as we had worked with them when we were looking for our original base and they were really good and supportive with us again.
“We have settled in really well, enrolled some new children and have already had some exciting new interest for child places. We are looking to expand the business and look after more children, so if you are a parent and need a day nursery for your child or children, then please get in contact, or alternatively call in and have a look around.”
Councillor David Westley, West Lancashire Borough Council Leader and portfolio holder for Regeneration, said: “I am very pleased we were able to help Giggles find a new base and I wish them every success for the future. Our Regeneration and Estates team can help businesses in a number of ways, including searching for property and land, and access to finance as well advice on taking on apprentices.”
