Enjoy the great outdoors at events in West Lancashire parks during April
Spring is in the air and plenty of exciting free activities are being organised by West Lancashire Borough Council Rangers throughout the month of April.
The fun starts on Wednesday 1 April when visitors of all ages can join the Rangers to look for seasonal, natural wild foods throughout Coronation Park, Ormskirk, at the Family Friendly Foraging event. People taking part should meet at the Bowling Pavilion at 2pm. A similar event takes place at Beacon Country Park on Saturday 18 April, starting from the park’s rangers’ hut at 2pm. Places must be booked in for both these activities in advance. Ring 01695 570258 for the Coronation Park event, and call 01695 622794 for the Beacon Country Park session.
Walkers can discover some of West Lancashire's wonderful countryside on the Halsall Circular Walk on Monday 6 April. The walk is about five miles and people taking part should meet at Saracens Bridge at 10am. Please ring 01695 622794 for more details. It is likely to be muddy in places so please wear suitable footwear. All children under 18 require adult supervision.

Councillor David Sudworth said: “Spring is a great time to visit our local parks and countryside so come along and join our great events.”
A number of Junior Rangers Club events are planned for the Easter holidays.
Children can join the Rangers for an Easter Eggstravaganza on Tuesday 7 April. They can 'eggsplore' the park looking for hidden surprises along the Rangers’ Easter trail. Arts and crafts activities will also be taking place, including making and decorating Easter baskets. The event starts from the Coronation Park Bowling Pavilion at 2pm.
Youngsters can have lots of fun at the Easter Sports event at Richmond Park, Burscough, on Wednesday 8 April, from 2pm. Games will include an assault course to get you scrambling over and under the tricky obstacles that the Easter Bunny has left behind. Don't miss the traditional egg and spoon race - with prizes to be won. Meet at Richmond Park Bowling Pavilion to join in. Another Easter sports event takes place at Stanley Coronation Park, Skelmersdale, on Friday 10 April, starting at 2pm from the park’s bowling pavilion.
Young detectives can join the Rangers to 'eggsamine' hidden clues along the Rangers’ Easter Trail at Beacon Country Park on Thursday 9 April. The activity starts from the rangers’ hut at 2pm.
These four Junior Rangers Club events are aimed at children aged between five and 12. The children will require adult supervision from someone aged 18 or over throughout. Places at each activity are limited. Booking opens seven days before each event and is essential to avoid disappointment. For more details on these events and to book places, email email@example.com or call 01695 622794.
Please wear suitable footwear and clothing for the weather and ground conditions when attending rangers’ outdoor events.
