Families with a local connection to Banks will be able to apply for one of 30 new homes being made available at an affordable rent in the area.
West Lancashire Borough Council is working in partnership with Regenda Housing Group to develop much needed affordable housing across the Borough.
Martin Davies, Regenda’s Director of Development, said: “We used local building company Melford Construction Ltd to develop these new homes and are excited that these properties are nearing completion on schedule.”
Councillor Adrian Owens, portfolio holder for Housing (Finance), Regeneration and Estates, said: “The Council is committed to ensuring there is affordable housing for local people. The Council knows there is a real need to develop affordable housing in our Borough and is pleased to be working with Regenda Group to increase the supply of affordable housing in our communities. Together we are making real progress on this important issue.
“I am also really pleased that a local firm and local workers were used to build these new homes.”
Councillor Val Hopley, portfolio holder for Landlord Services, said: “This is great news for families with a connection to Banks who are looking for affordable accommodation there. The Council has nomination rights for these new homes and they will be made available to households with a local connection to the area.”
The homes will be ready for letting during this December/early January 2014. Households interested in the new housing should be registered with the Council’s Choice based lettings system, called HomeFinder, so they can bid for the properties through that system.
