The sky above us, and helping our feathered friends, are the themes of some of the events in West Lancashire parks in February.
West Lancashire Borough Council Rangers are hosting free fun afternoons at Coronation Park in Ormskirk and Richmond Park in Burscough, and everyone is welcome to join in.
Councillor David Sudworth, portfolio holder for Leisure, said: “This is a great time of year to visit our parks and countryside areas and I would encourage everyone to come out and enjoy these fabulous events.”
The first event in February is The Cloud-Spotter’s Guide to the Skies, at Coronation Park on Saturday 8 February at 2pm. If you have ever looked up at the sky and wondered what type of clouds you are looking at then here is your chance to find out.
This afternoon is perfect for all ages, and includes a short presentation with a run through of cloud types before a guided stroll around Coronation Park, weather permitting.
On Monday 17 February visitors to Coronation Park can make bird feeders and feed the birds on the park's new bird tables to help our feathered friends through the winter. The fun starts at 1pm and a similar event takes place at Richmond Park on Wednesday 19 February, also starting at 1pm.
Bird lovers are also being encouraged to join in making nestboxes for Richmond Park’s birdlife on Saturday 22 February as part of National Nestbox week.
