Get online to search for jobs and learn about using the internet
Don’t miss this great chance to gain new computer skills, get online to search for jobs and learn about using the internet at a special free event at
Skelmersdale Library on Thursday 19 June.
Everyone is welcome to come along to the library, which is part of Lancashire County Council’s Library Service, between 10am and 1pm where there will be computer and internet demonstrations, help with CV writing and job searches, help to get an email address and advice on getting online at home.
The day has been organised by West Lancashire Challenge and staff from West Lancashire Borough Council and West Lancs CVS – partners in the Challenge – will be joined by people from Job Centre Plus, West Lancashire College, and other organisations to offer advice.
Similar events held at Digmoor Community Centre and Skelmersdale Library earlier this year were a great success, and organisers hope this latest session will help even more people.
Councillor Owens, portfolio holder for Regeneration, said: “Demand is high for the chance to learn these skills and around 150 people have attended similar events and have already benefitted from help and advice with job searches and getting online. I am delighted that the West Lancashire Challenge and partners are offering more people the opportunity to benefit from a free information session.”
Gill Hughes, West Lancs CVS community development manager, said: “Feedback from previous events has been excellent and the vast majority of those who attended have said they found the sessions useful and informative. The most popular aspects have included getting information on local job or work clubs, getting information on IT training and finding out about ways to access the internet.”
Free refreshments will be provided at all events and there will be a chance to win prizes including a personal computer, kindly donated by Edge Hill University, and a Kindle Fire HD. To find out more please contact West Lancashire Challenge on 01695 712645.
