If you think you’ve got artistic talent, from photography and drawing to watercolour and embroidery, then there’s still time to pick up an entry form for this year’s West Lancashire Open Exhibition.
The West Lancs Open Exhibition is the ideal opportunity for anyone who has a talent for art to get their work on public display. The event will take place at the West Lancashire Borough Council-run Chapel Gallery in Ormskirk from 19 July 2014 to 3 September 2014.
Now in its 13th year, this engaging show celebrates the creative talents of ambitious amateurs, accomplished students and professional artists from throughout the region. Anyone over 18 is invited to enter, whatever your level of skill or experience, and those selected exhibit their work collectively in the exhibition spaces at the welcoming Gallery.
First prize is £800, second will receive £400 and £200 for third. This year there will also be prizes for Best Print and Best 3D Work. Visitors to the gallery will also be able to choose the winner of the People’s Prize, given to the most popular work on display. The winner receives the opportunity to exhibit at the gallery as well as a £150 exhibition fee.
Each entrant can submit two original pieces of artwork that will be presented to the selected panel. The submission days for handing in your work are Friday 4 July and Saturday 5 July, from 10am to 4.30pm. All media entered will be considered, from paintings, printmaking, three-dimensional work and photography to sculpture and textiles.
Councillor David Sudworth, portfolio holder for Leisure, said: “The exhibition is one of the annual highlights of the year at the Chapel Gallery and is growing in popularity every year. It’s also a showcase for budding artists who want to reach a wider audience. So if you feel that you’d like to have that chance, pick up an application form and have a go.”
