Drivers will no longer have to hunt for change when using some of West Lancashire Borough Council-run pay and display car parks.
The Council has installed machines with which drivers can pay by credit or debit card as well as cash at two of its car parks. These are The Stiles, off Derby Street West, and Wheatsheaf, off Leyland Way behind shops on Burscough Street.
Parking charges remain the same on all of the Borough Council’s car parks. The new machines also take coins as do all other Council car park payment machines.
Councillor Martin Forshaw, portfolio holder for Planning and Development, said: “It can be very annoying when you park up and realise you don’t have any change to put into the meter. We have introduced these new machines to help drivers so they don’t have to worry about trying to find some change from somewhere.”
