Streets in Ormskirk town centre will be festooned with new Christmas lights that will shine brightly throughout the festive period.
West Lancashire Borough Council has invested in new lights to enhance the appearance of Ormskirk’s main shopping streets over Christmas. These new lights utilise low energy bulbs which are more energy efficient and will deliver ongoing savings over the previous filament light bulbs.
The centrepiece of the new light show will be a shining canopy of festive bulbs hung around the Clock Tower.
Strings of lights will be hung across the Moor Street, Aughton Street, Church Street and Burscough Street to help make the area sparkle at night. Extra new decorations will be mounted onto the lampposts to add to the colourful spectacle.
Councillor David Griffiths, portfolio holder for Town and Village Centres, said: “The new lights will help make Ormskirk town centre an even more attractive place as the nights draw in and we all start to think about Christmas. I am sure shoppers and visitors to Ormskirk will enjoy seeing them.”
The Council is planning to invest in even more lights for Ormskirk in time for Christmas 2015 to make the town an especially attractive place to shop during the festive season.
A fantastic evening of entertainment is being lined up for the 2014 Christmas Lights Switch On event on Friday 28 November, when some very special guests will turn on the new lights. The fun begins about 4.30pm and children’s entertainers and fairground rides are already lined up for the occasion. More exciting details will be revealed very soon. Visit the events pages.
