Councillor Ian Moran, West Lancashire Borough Council Leader, wishes to send season’s greetings to everyone in West Lancashire.
Councillor Moran said: “I would like to wish everyone a happy Christmas and a peaceful and prosperous New Year, and I hope that 2016 is a good year for everyone.
“In 2016 West Lancashire Borough Council will continue to be ambitious for the borough, ambitious for its people, businesses and places. We are committed to important projects that will benefit everyone who lives and works here.
“The Council Plan for 2015-18 was recently adopted and this sets our main priorities:
The priority is to retain and grow jobs, increase skill levels and encourage business and wealth. The Council is working with businesses and partners to provide land, premises and finance, match training opportunities to skill needs, and to improve transport.
This focuses on enhancing the built and physical environment, and its cleanliness. This means working with communities and partners to protect and improve our environment, keep streets clean and tidy and combat crime and the fear of crime.
Improving the health and wellbeing of local communities which involves working with partners to provide leisure and culture opportunities which contribute to healthier communities. In addition, the Council is working to deliver housing that meets the needs of local people including affordable housing, and aims to be a top performing landlord.
“We always strive to provide the best possible services within the resources available. Our employees are among our greatest assets and I would like to thank all the staff for their hard work over the last 12 months towards achieving the Council’s priorities.
“While Christmas is a joyful time for a lot of us, it can be a difficult time for those who are lonely or have lost someone dear to them. I would ask the people of West Lancashire to spare a thought for those who live locally who may need a helping hand over the festive period.”
