Are you a West Lancashire Borough Council tenant and interested in improving the quality of housing services and the community you live in? Then why not get involved and help improve standards in housing?
Housing staff are recruiting new tenant members for the Council’s Landlord Services Committee and the Tenants Scrutiny Group. Members of these groups will carry out a variety of activities from talking to staff and tenants to gather their views, looking at performance information or working with Councillors and giving a tenants’ view point.
Councillor Jennifer Patterson, portfolio holder for Housing, said: “The Council is always striving to improve its housing services and invites tenants to get involved to ensure the services we provide are what tenants want. So please contact us and help the Council in its aims to make your homes and communities better.”
The Landlord Service Committee (LSC) enables tenants and Councillors to discuss housing matters before they are taken to the Council’s Cabinet. The group is made up of Councillors, staff and tenants working together in partnership. The LSC meets four times a year with meetings lasting about up to three hours each time.
The Tenants Scrutiny Group (TSG) is made up of tenants. The TSG monitors and scrutinises housing services delivered by the Council. It examines services in a number of ways such as reviewing information, interviewing staff and researching what other housing providers do. The group produces reports which influence changes to services.
