Children aged between 5 and 12 can enjoy a fantastic summer of free activities with the Junior Rangers Club.
Events have been organised by West Lancashire Borough Council Rangers in parks across the borough and children can learn survival skills, enjoy arts activities and compete in the Ranger Olympics.
Councillor Yvonne Gagen, portfolio holder for Leisure said: “Children can enjoy exciting activities in the Junior Rangers programme this summer and learn a lot about nature and wildlife. The events are free so come and join the Junior Rangers.”
All the Junior Rangers’ activities take place between 2pm and 4pm and they start with Beautiful Butterflies at Coronation Park, Ormskirk, on Monday 27 July. A similar event takes place at Beacon Country Park on Tuesday 28 July.
Ray Mears has taught survival techniques on hit television shows and children can follow in his footsteps by learning some survival skills of their own with the Rangers at Beacon Country Park on Thursday 30 July. A scavenger hunt takes place at Coronation Park in Ormskirk on Monday 3 August, with orienteering taking place at the same event.
Children can have fun getting creative with clay at Richmond Park on Wednesday 29 July. A similar event takes place on Wednesday 5 August at Stanley Coronation Park, Skelmersdale, which also hosts Rangers’ Olympics on Wednesday 19 August. This will give the children the chance to test themselves against an obstacle course and take part in races.
