The Chapel Gallery launches its new programme of events and exhibitions with a fascinating display of international illustration featuring prints included in the Harry Potter books.
The Gallery is hosting an exhibition by the Association of Illustrators, which celebrates the outstanding talent in the work of international illustrators and designers. It includes images from those that greet us in the pages of a magazine, to the covers that entice us to read a book.
There are almost 60 works in the show and a number of publications, including three images by Andrew Davidson who illustrated adult versions of the Harry Potter books. Many visitors will also recognise the work of Katy Davis from her E-Stings animations on TV channel E4.
Councillor David Sudworth, portfolio holder for Leisure, said: “The fact that we are able to show this exhibition is a real coup for the gallery. I am sure many visitors will want to see the works of Andrew Davidson, but the whole event features talented illustrators and designers and will be enjoyed by everyone who comes along.”

The exhibition lasts from Saturday 14 March to Saturday 25 April and there are a variety of exciting free creative activities on the opening day, so come along and join the fun.
During the exhibition there will also be a series of tours and talks. If you are interested in taking part please contact the gallery on 01695 571328 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
To complement this exhibition and celebrate World Book Day the gallery has created a Pop Up Reading room, in partnership with Waterstones Ormskirk. Bring a book and swap it for another, just bring back a completed recommendation card. This promotion is ongoing until 25 April. For those who enjoy creative activities, there is an opportunity to write a book review or design a book cover and submit them by Saturday 28 March. Book vouchers will be awarded to the best entries.
The Gallery is also hosting a showcase by One Step On, a West Lancashire group of creative embroiderers. Members include textile tutors, textile graduates and award winning embroiderers. Each member has their own specialism and interests, but all share a love of innovation and creativity.
Their showcase includes a wide variety of work, demonstrating a range of skills and techniques that will both delight and surprise. This is also on display from Saturday 14 March to Saturday 25 April.
