Spring into West Lancashire Borough Council’s ‘Activity for Life’ exercise on prescription scheme and reap the benefits of making small changes to your physical activity levels.
The Council, in partnership with Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust, run a free GP Referral scheme across the borough. We offer group, gym-based exercise, providing one to one support with GP Referral officers throughout the 10-week course.
‘Activity for Life’ is for people aged 16 and over, who are currently physically inactive and living with a specific health condition. You can take the first step today to improving your quality of life by asking your GP or practise nurse if you are eligible to be referred.
Councillor David Sudworth, portfolio holder for Health and Leisure, said: “ ‘Activity for Life’ is a great way for people to who have been inactive to get back into exercise. Small changes to your activity levels can really improve your health so find out if you are eligible as soon as you can.”
In addition let your feet hit the street by coming along to one of our weekly Health Walks which are aimed at beginners and open to all.
The Council runs three weekly walks. On Tuesdays walkers should meet staff organising the walk at Richmond Park Bowling Pavilion, Burscough at 10am. On Wednesdays the meeting place is Coronation Park bowling pavilion, Ormskirk at 1pm, and Thursday walks start from Banks Leisure Centre, Banks at 10am.
A warm welcome awaits, no bookings required – just turn-up and discover your local green spaces.
