West Lancashire Borough Council is working hard to provide more affordable homes in the borough.
The Council is committed to providing affordable housing for local people and it is paying dividends. With the help of our Housing Association partners, there are 74 new properties scheduled for completion in the coming months that will help some people find a new, affordable home.
There will be 24 properties available for shared ownership:
Shared ownership schemes allow you to buy a share of a property, funded by a mortgage, and pay rent on the remaining share you don’t own. This approach may help you to get on to the property ladder and move into a property that you could not ordinarily afford.
There will also be 50 properties available for rent:
The Council has nomination rights to the rented properties and will nominate applicants in accordance with the Council’s Housing Allocation Policy.
Councillor Jennifer Patterson, Portfolio Holder for Housing and Landlord Services, said: “The Council has made a commitment to providing affordable housing and the development of these homes is another example of how we are delivering that promise to people in our communities. These schemes will provide much needed homes for our Borough.”
Further information about these new affordable housing developments is available from housing. People interested in the rented housing should be registered with the Council’s Choice based lettings system, called HomeFinder, so they can bid for the properties through that system.
For more information on how to register please go to HomeFinder (external link). The rented properties are expected to be advertised on HomeFinder shortly, so keep monitoring the website to make sure you don’t miss the advert.
