West Lancashire Borough Council has set out a new vision and its priorities for the next three years together with key projects in its new Council Plan.
The Council’s vision is to be a Council which is ambitious for West Lancashire.
The Leader of the Council, Cllr Ian Moran, said:
“West Lancashire’s economy, our environment, and the health and wellbeing of local communities are our top priorities as we look ahead and plan our work for the next three years. West Lancashire is an ambitious Council – ambitious for our businesses, our places and our people - and we are committed to important projects that will benefit the Borough and everyone who lives and works here.”
The new plan lists three main priorities:
The priority is to retain and grow jobs, increase skill levels and encourage business and wealth. The Council will work with businesses and partners to provide land, premises and finance, match training opportunities to skill needs, and to improve transport.
This focuses on enhancing the built and physical environment, and its cleanliness. This means working with communities and partners to protect and improve our environment, keep streets clean and tidy and combat crime and the fear of crime.
Improving the health and wellbeing of local communities involves working with partners to provide leisure and culture opportunities which contribute to healthier communities. In addition, the Council will work to deliver housing that meets the needs of local people including affordable housing, and aims to be a top performing landlord.
