Book now for ‘Let’s talk Business’ growth and networking event

Businesses should make sure they don’t miss an exciting growth and networking opportunity where they will also find out the winners of the Let’s talk Apprenticeship Awards 2016.

‘Let’s talk Business’ is a growth and networking event for West Lancashire businesses at the West Tower, Aughton, on Thursday 10 March between 8am and 10.30am.

Organised by West Lancashire Borough Council, the morning will be hosted by Councillor Frank McKenna, West Lancashire Borough Council’s Economic Regeneration champion.

The guest speaker is Joycelyn Neve, founder of the Seafood Pub Company, who will be talking about how she has successfully grown her business. The Town Green Brasserie in Aughton is one of a number of venues run by the company.

After Joycelyn has spoken the winners of the Let’s talk Apprenticeship Awards 2016 will be announced. There will also be an opportunity to find out about funding opportunities and to meet members of the Council’s Economic Regeneration Team who can support your business.

Places are free but you must register to attend by emailing your details to info.edu@westlancs.gov.uk or calling 01695 712692 by 4pm on Friday 5 March 2016.

Councillor Ian Moran, Leader of West Lancashire Borough Council and portfolio holder for Economic Regeneration, said: “Businesses should sign up now for ‘Let’s talk Business’ event as I am sure it will be an excellent morning. We have a great guest speaker and we will also find out the deserving winners of the Let’s talk Apprenticeship awards.”

There is still time for West Lancashire businesses to apply and nominate for the apprenticeship awards, which they can do for free. The categories are:

  • Apprentice of the Year 2016 - If your organisation has an existing apprentice or an employee who has completed their apprenticeship in the last twelve months, who you think has exhibited the drive and enthusiasm to be awarded The Let’s talk Apprentice of the Year Award 2016, then please nominate this person and celebrate their achievement.
  • Apprentice Employer of the Year 2016 - If you have an existing apprenticeship or training programme that you think works well for both the apprentice(s) and your business, then please nominate your company and gain the recognition you deserve as an apprentice employer in West Lancashire.

Applications for both categories can be made online at apprenticeship awards. The closing date for all applications is Friday 12 February 2016 and all applicants will be in with the chance to win a prize.
