Grab some comfortable walking shoes and join our GP Referral Officers for short, sociable walks across different locations in West Lancashire.
Walks are open to all, are approximately one hour long and a well earned ‘cuppa’ awaits you at the end of the walks. You don’t have to book in advance, so come along and get some fresh air into your lungs.
Councillor Yvonne Gagen, portfolio holder for Leisure, said: “If you want to be fitter and healthier in 2016 then our health walks can really help you with that. So let your feet hit the street and come and join the walkers. A warm welcome awaits you. No need to book, just turn up!”

A new series of monthly advanced health walks will be starting in February. Lead by West Lancashire Parks and Countryside Ranger Service, the walks will be between four and six miles in length, exploring different parts of the beautiful countryside and discovering the wonderful wildlife that can be found across West Lancashire. The first advanced walk will be at Fairy Glen, Appley Bridge at 10am on Monday 1 February. Fairy Glen is a wonderful countryside site situated on the side of Parbold Hill and the main entrance can be accessed from the A5209. There is free parking in a layby opposite the site. All extended health walks take place on the first Monday of the month and meeting time is 10am. Due to the advanced nature of these walks it is advised that you wear suitable sturdy footwear with ankle support.
