Do you own or know of any land that might be suitable for development in the future?
West Lancashire Borough Council is undertaking a ‘Call for Sites’ exercise as part of its on-going strategic planning work. This includes a new study called a Strategic Housing and Employment Land Availability Assessment. The Council would like to hear about sites that could possibly be used for housing, business, employment land, Traveller accommodation, retail, commercial uses, or for people to build their own homes.
People have from 14 July until 9 September 2016 to suggest land which they believe could make an appropriate development site in the future. The Council will consider all sites received, and will look at such things as their capacity, risk from flooding, and other constraints, and will endeavour to make a judgment about their suitability for development, and potential timescales.
If you have submitted a site for consideration in the last couple of years there is no need for you to resubmit the same site, unless you have new information which would help the Council to re-appraise the site, as it will be automatically considered.
Councillor John Hodson, Portfolio Holder for Planning, said: “If there is land that you think should be considered for development please let the Council know by completing the official ‘Call for sites’ form which will be available from 14 July. The process will help us as we plan for the future and keep our Local Plan background information up to date.
“Of course, we must stress that putting a site forward in this exercise is not a guarantee that the Council will subsequently allocate it or support its development in the future. All sites will need to be judged against relevant planning policies and other considerations.”
The official ‘Call for sites’ form will be available from Thursday 14 July on the call for sites web page, from the Council offices at 52 Derby Street, Ormskirk, or can be requested by phoning 01695 585284 or sending an email to email@example.com.
The Council needs to receive details of suggested sites no later than Friday 9 September 2016, and these must be submitted on the official form.
