West Lancashire Borough Council’s Arts Development Service is organising a free family fun day on town centre streets on Sunday 31 July.
There will be a free puppet show with three performances of the Alchemist by acclaimed Outdoor Theatre Company, Frolicked Theatre
The show is a 20 minute intimate family show about a medieval man and his disastrous quest to make gold………with a surprise twist at the end!
Storyteller Sue Allonby will be giving free storytelling sessions and families can also enjoy art and craft sessions.
A full scale Vintage and Handmade Fair had been planned for this day with stalls in the Chapel Gallery as well as on nearby streets. But with work continuing to create a new first-floor exhibition centre and install a lift at the gallery it will be closed that day. However, there will be some stalls on streets close to the gallery and a vintage DJ will also be playing music to entertain the crowds.
The stalls will be located on Moor Street along with the other entertainment and a few fun fair rides and games on Aughton Street.
Councillor Yvonne Gagen, portfolio holder for Leisure, said: “Work is progressing well at the gallery and we hope it will be completed by the end of August . The Gallery is continuing to provide as full a programme of events as possible, and this exciting family fun day will be enjoyable for everyone.”
Don’t forget there will also be free lace making demonstrations and a Makers’ Market in the Chapel Gallery this Saturday as part of the Ormskirk Gingerbread Festival.
The gallery has organised a programme of free creative activities for those aged 8 to 11 and a week-long activity for those aged 11 to 16 during the summer holidays. For more information and to book places please call the Chapel Gallery on 01695 571328.
