Your chance to enter the Chapel Gallery’s West Lancashire Open Exhibition 2016
If your family and friends think you have artistic talent, now’s the time to show your work to a larger audience by taking part in the popular West Lancashire Open Exhibition 2016.
Amateur and professional artists alike have chance to exhibit at Chapel Gallery and great prizes can be won. The exhibition is open to anyone to enter, so even if you’ve never exhibited in an art gallery before this is an excellent opportunity to get your work seen by the general public.
Entry forms are now available from Chapel Gallery (external link) or can be requested from the gallery by calling 01695 571328 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Alternatively, pop into the gallery, in St Helens Road, Ormskirk, which is open from 10am to 4.30pm, Tuesday to Saturday.
If selected, your work will be exhibited at Ormskirk's prestigious gallery from July 16 to September 7.
Councillor Yvonne Gagen, portfolio holder for Leisure, said: “The Open Exhibition is a fantastic event every year and anyone can put their works forward. So if you are an artist get your entry form now for the chance to have your work in the exhibition.”
Applicants must be 18 years old or over and can submit two original pieces of artwork to be viewed by the selection panel. All media entered will be considered, from drawing, painting, printmaking and three-dimensional work to photography, sculpture and textiles. Submissions will be accepted on Friday 1 or Saturday 2 July between 10am and 4.30pm.
This is an annual exhibition but no two years are ever the same as a different panel of guest judges preside over each selection.
The first prize is £800, with a second prize of £400 and £200 for third place. Commendations are also awarded along with the prestigious Peoples’ Prize, voted by visitors to the gallery. This year, there is a special Prize of £150 for student artists. If you’re over 18 and at college or university, then you are encouraged to enter.
Large scale two-dimensional and three-dimensional works must be submitted by photograph only. The gallery should be in receipt of these submissions by Friday 1 July. They should also include a completed entry form and a first class stamp.
