How to report a stray dog over Easter

West Lancashire Borough Council has made arrangements for residents to report stray dogs over Easter.

If you need to report a stray dog between 25 March 2016 (Good Friday) and 28 March (Easter Monday) then please ring the Council’s contracted kennels, Leigh Dogs and Cats Home, on 01942 671215 / 07786 118088.

The phone line will operate between 9am and 8pm over the four day period. Leigh Dogs and Cats Home will be closed to the public on Easter Sunday but the phone line will still be operational from 9am to 8pm. Stray dogs may be collected any time up to 8pm over the four days.

Dave Tilleray, Director of Leisure and Wellbeing, said: “We hope all dog owners will be responsible, and keep their pets safe and not let them stray. However, if anyone does see a stray dog over Easter they should report the animal to Leigh Dogs and Cats Home. Dogs that are dangerously out of control should be reported to the police.”

Stray dogs will be collected and taken back to Leigh Dogs and Cats Home. Any pet owners who wish to collect their pets must contact the home first on 01942 671215 or visit Leigh Dogs and Cats Home (external link) to check when it will be possible to visit.
