Let your feet hit the street - New Health Walks in Banks
Dig out those winter woollies, be bold and embrace the cold by joining a new Health Walk in Banks.
West Lancashire Borough Council is delighted to be able to offer the new health walk in Banks which is in addition to similar successful walks in Ormskirk and Burscough. Visit the health walks page for more information.
The Council’s GP Referral Officer Craig Baxter will lead the Banks walk every Thursday, from 10-11am, starting and finishing at Banks Leisure Centre, Greaves Hall Avenue, Banks, PR4 8BL.
The walks will continue throughout the year. These walks are ‘open to all’, suitable for beginners and those returning to exercise! So come along for an enjoyable, sociable walk in your local area and then feel free to stay for a cup of tea at the end.
Councillor David Sudworth, portfolio holder for Leisure, said: “A warm welcome awaits you, so let your feet hit the street and come and join the walkers on Thursday mornings. No need to book – just turn up!”
Please wear suitable footwear and clothing for the weather. People are requested to arrive 10 minutes before the walk starts the first time they join in so they can complete a short medical questionnaire.
The health walk in Burscough is every Tuesday from 10am-11am, starting and finishing at Richmond Park Bowling Pavilion. The walk around Ormskirk takes place every Wednesday from 1pm-2pm, starting and finishing at Coronation Park Bowling Pavilion in Ormskirk.
For more information on any of our walks, please contact our West Lancs GP Referral Officer on 01695 585145 or 01695 555804
