Visit Chapel Gallery's special exhibitions
From stalls displaying fabulous gifts to a showcase by an award winning artist, there really is something for everyone to enjoy at the Chapel Gallery in November.
The annual Objects of Desire exhibition opens its doors on Saturday 8 November with around 30 high-end designers and makers, from right across the UK, offering items that make unique Christmas gifts. This exhibition draws visitors from across the North West to West Lancashire as its reputation for quality has grown year on year. There are some superb collections to choose from, including handmade jewellery, homeware, lighting, textiles, accessories and prints.
The Objects of Desire exhibition runs alongside a showcase of paintings and prints by award-winning artist Judy Musselle which begins on Wednesday 5 November.
Judy, who lives in Southport, paints in acrylics and is also a printmaker using linocut and etching. Her work is in demand worldwide as posters, greetings cards and stationary and her clients include Card House Press and Mothercare. Her ideas come from dreams and childhood memories and she tries to evoke a magical and dreamlike atmosphere in her paintings. She won the Bohemia Prize at the recent Open Exhibition at the Ferens Art Gallery in Hull.
Judy’s showcase and the Objects of Desire exhibition will be at the gallery until Saturday 3 January.
Councillor David Sudworth, portfolio holder for Leisure, said: “The Chapel Gallery is hosting some fantastic events so come along and enjoy a great day out seeing what is on offer.”
The Gallery will host a fabulous three-day Vintage and Handmade Fair on Friday 28 November, Saturday 29 November and Sunday 30 November.
With more than 40 stalls of handmade, retro and true vintage goods, it’s the perfect place for a treasure hunt and to buy quirky gifts. The theme of the fair will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the start of World War One and there will be warm mulled wine and artisan foods.
Stalls will open from midday to 8pm on Friday 28 November and between 10am and 4.30pm on Saturday 29 November and Sunday 30 November. Across the weekend there will be free activities for children, plus live music and competitions with retro hair and make-up styling and craft demonstrations. More details will be revealed soon.
All visitors to the gallery can enjoy the special tasty treats on offer from the cafe.
