Have your say on a Polling District review in Derby Ward, Ormskirk
Voters living in part of Derby Ward, Ormskirk, are being invited to give their comments in an important local review.
The Borough Council is carrying out a review of the DEC Polling District, within the Derby Ward of the Borough, to ensure electors are able to vote conveniently and efficiently.
Electors living within that Polling District can give the Council their views regarding the current location of Polling Places and Polling Stations for that Polling District, and suggest possible new ones. The review is not looking at the Ward boundary.
The Polling District area includes Edge Hill University. Its borders are the south side of Wigan Road, between Moor Street and Cross Hall Farm, and the north side of St Helens Road, between Moor Street and Scarth Hill Lane. To the east its border is Scarth Hill Lane, part of Ruff Lane and Ruff Wood - see attached plan.
The current Polling Place and 2 Polling Stations for this Polling District are located at Ormskirk Community Centre, St Helens Road, Ormskirk.
Gill Rowe, Returning Officer, said: “Making sure Polling Places and Polling Stations are in the best possible locations for local people is very important, so we would encourage residents within this Polling District to give us their views.”
The Council would also welcome views from any person or body with expertise in access for persons with any type of disability.
Plans of the Polling District, including current Polling Places and Polling Stations, can be obtained by visiting elections or from Electoral and Administration Services, West Lancashire Borough Council, 52 Derby Street, Ormskirk, L39 2DF.
Representations should be sent to: Thomas Lynan, Electoral and Administration Services Manager, either in writing to the Council at the above address or by email to email@example.com. Representations for the current stage of the process are to arrive no later than Tuesday 24 November 2015. There will be a later consultation on more detailed proposals.
