Come along and forage for some fantastic fungi at Coronation Park, Ormskirk
Visitors to Coronation Park in Ormskirk on Saturday 18 October can enjoy foraging for fantastic fungi.
Nature lovers can join David Winnard, an expert from natural history company Discover The Wild, and the ranger for an exciting afternoon. They will be walking around the Green Flag Award-winning park looking for amazing species of fungi and plants.
The fun starts at 2pm and people taking part should meet at the bowling pavilion. They will be shown some wild edible plants and fungi growing in the park as well as the ones to avoid!
Councillor David Sudworth, portfolio holder for Leisure, said: “This sounds like a great fun event to learn more about our lovely local park, so come along and join in.”
Fungi have been around for millions of years and come in all shapes, sizes, colours and smells. They live on wood, roots, soil, leaves, insects and even on humans.
No need to book for this event as you can just turn up on the day. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Please wear suitable footwear and clothing for the ground and weather conditions.
