Enjoy a packed week of arts activities and make your own spooky Halloween hat
Families can enjoy free exciting arts activities at the Chapel Gallery in Ormskirk and the Sandy Lane Shopping Centre in Skelmersdale during the half term holidays.
Halloween is just around the corner, and at Chapel Gallery on Tuesday 28 October Angie Thompson will be delivering creative workshops where you can make yourself a spooky Halloween hat decorated with stripes, smiling skulls and spooky spiders.
On Thursday 30 October Angie will deliver creative workshops for you to make up your own special book of charms and rhymes. You can put your special book of charms into a secret box decorated to disguise its hidden words.
All of the workshops are free, with two session times, morning, 10.30am till 12.30pm for children aged between five and eight, and an adult will need to come along to help them. The afternoon session between 1.30pm and 3.30pm is for children aged eight and over, and adults don’t have to come along but would be more than welcome.
The whole family can enjoy more free arty fun with artist Jane Coyle as she hosts creative workshops at the Chapel Gallery on Wednesday 29 October and Friday 31 October. Children of any age are welcome to the sessions between 10.30am and 12.30pm, or 1.30pm and 3.30pm, provided they are accompanied by an adult. Saturday 1 November you can take part in the free Big Draw event with Angie Thompson and help create a spectacular piece of artwork resembling a flock of geese in flight. The activity takes place at Unit 63 in Sandy Lane Skelmersdale and will involve filling the artwork space with feathery textured marks and doodles.
The finished artwork is to be installed at Sandy Lane for everyone to see. Session times are 10.30 am – 12.30 and then 1.30 pm – 3.30pm.
Councillor David Sudworth, portfolio holder for Leisure, said: “All these activities sound like great fun for the half term holidays so come along and join in.”
All of these sessions are free; however places need to be booked. To book places on these sessions please call the Gallery on 01695 571328 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
