Arts Awards success for Chapel Gallery Saturday Art Club
Talented young artists are getting a head start with the Chapel Gallery Saturday Art Club.
Eight club members been successful in achieving bronze level with one young person achieving a silver Arts Award. Bronze level achievers are Lewis Deakin, Tara Latham, Louisa Sergison, Megan Ackers, Katie Stanfield, Eavane Boland, Malraux Wrennal and Tanish Ashcroft. Silver Award achiever is Kirsty Appleton. Well done to everyone.
The programme develops creativity, leadership and communication skills, and young people learn to work independently, helping them to prepare for further education and employment.
All of the Saturday art club sessions offer the participants the opportunity to gain a nationally-recognised qualification from the Arts Council and Trinity College (London) Arts Award scheme. Chapel Gallery facilitators are trained to deliver the Arts Award at all levels.
Councillor Yvonne Gagen, portfolio holder for Leisure, said: “I am delighted for the young people that they have achieved this success. It is a great tribute to their hard work and the efforts of the facilitators of the art club sessions.”
During art club sessions, participants explore various techniques, media and learn new skills inspired by the latest exhibition or creative themes planned by the facilitators. They are encouraged, with expert advice and support, to create their own artworks in the Chapel Gallery’s fully equipped workshop rooms, developing their creativity and talent in the process.
Sessions run term time only. For 8 to 12 year olds sessions take place every Saturday and a special session for 13 to 18 year olds every other Saturday afternoon. Session times are 10am to midday and afternoon 1pm to 3pm. There is a charge for the sessions with an early payment discount offer.
Special Christmas Art Club gift packs for January New Starters will be available from October Half Term onwards; great Christmas presents with a difference providing a full term of activity at a great price.
