Sign up for Junior Rangers Club Autumnwatch events
Discover the wonders of autumn by joining in with one of our free Junior Rangers Club Autumnwatch events being organised in parks across the borough this November.
The events are being organised by West Lancashire Borough Council’s Parks and Countryside Ranger Service and will be taking a look how the boroughs wildlife adapts to changes in the weather and temperature at this time of year. There will also be handy hints and tips to help you to provide some much needed help to the wildlife in your garden this winter.
All the events start at 2pm and the first takes place at Beacon Country Park on Tuesday 1 November. The others are as follows:
- Stanley Coronation Park, Skelmersdale, Wednesday 2 November
- Coronation Park, Ormskirk, Thursday 3 November
- Richmond Park, Burscough, Friday 4 November
Junior Rangers events are open to children aged between 5 and 12. Children under 8 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
Booking is required and opens 7 days prior to the event taking place. Please contact the Ranger Service on 01695 622794 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Councillor Yvonne Gagen, portfolio holder for Leisure, said: “The Junior Rangers Autumnwatch events kick off another month of great activities in West Lancashire parks. Our local wildlife faces a huge struggle with climatic changes at this time of year and these events are an excellent way to find out how you can do your bit to help, so make sure you get your children’s places booked.”
As well as Junior Rangers activities there are other fantastic Parks and Countryside events for you to get involved with. The first is a 4-6 mile health walk exploring the beautiful countryside that we are blessed with in the borough. These monthly walks are designed for people who want get out and explore the local countryside, and are also for people returning to exercise or taking the first steps towards a healthier lifestyle. If that’s you come and join us for a walk in a friendly relaxed environment. Meet us at Platts Lane Lake, Burscough on Monday 7 November. Please meet at the lake at 9.50am for a 10am start. No bookings required.
Volunteers can help expand and link up the wonderful woodlands by helping the rangers plant some trees at Coronation Park, Ormskirk, on Saturday 26 November, and Beacon Country Park on Sunday 27 November. Booking is required for both activities. Please contact Beacon Country Park for details on 01695 622794 or by emailing email@example.com. Both events will run from 1pm-3pm. Meet at the Ranger’s office in the bowling hut in Coronation Park for the event on 26 November and the Ranger Station at Beacon Country Park for the activity on 27 November. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult at these events.
Please wear suitable footwear and clothing for the weather and ground conditions at all these outdoor activities.
