Open space and recreation provision in new residential
developments
This SPD will provide details of how much open space the Council
will expect from developers of new housing schemes.
We consulted on this SPD from 2 October until 12 November
2008. Whilst it is no longer possible to comment on the
SPD, you can view the document and see comments that people have
made.

Note - until the new SPD is adopted, the
Council will be using open space requirements from the
2002 Open Space Supplementary
Planning Guidance note.
In June 2008, the Council commissioned a study to assess open
space and recreation facilities across the district. This
study will eventually replace the 2006 study referred to above, and
will inform future reviews of the Open Space SPD.
Background
In autumn 2006, we consulted on a draft version of the Open
Space and Recreation SPD. The Council considered the comments
received, and made significant changes to the document.
Because of the extent of the changes, we decided to consult on the
document a second time.
