Open Space SPD (2014)

We believe that all residents should have access to a range of high quality open space facilities. These are essential for sport and recreation, health and wellbeing, and can also be important habitats for wildlife.  We try and ensure that open spaces are provided to accompany new housing development.

Our Open Space Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) sets out what the Council expects in terms of the amount, type and maintenance of open space. The SPD was adopted in July 2014.  It applies in conjunction with the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) charge, which has altered the types of infrastructure we seek through planning obligations (Section 106 agreements).  The SPD also links with Policy EN3 of the Local Plan 2012-2027.
