Who We Are

The Strategic Planning and Implementation Team, which is part of the Development and Regeneration Directorate at West Lancashire Borough Council (WLBC), takes your privacy very seriously and will keep your personal data secure at all times.

Your Data

WLBC's Strategic Planning and Implementation Team will only hold your personal details for the purpose of maintaining a register of individuals desiring to build their own dwelling – the West Lancashire Self and Custom Build Register ('the Register'). The Council is required by law to maintain such a register.

Retention of Information

We will hold your details for up to one year, at which time you will be invited to renew your 'membership' on the Register. If you choose not to renew, we will delete your personal data from our systems and any hard copies of your details will be securely shredded.

We have a data protection regime in place to oversee the effective and secure processing of your personal information, and also use appropriate technical safeguards to keep your information secure.

Third Parties

As part of its assessment of people's eligibility to be listed on the Register, the Council will need to verify that applicants to the Register have the financial means to pay for the building of their own property. This will involve the passing of personal (including financial) details to a third party, who will use these details to carry out an assessment of the applicant's ability to finance the building of their property from start to finish.

Transfer of Data

We will not transfer your personal data to a country outside of the EU.

Automated Decision Making

We do not engage in automated decision making using your personal data.
