RSS
stands for 'Really Simple Syndication'. It allows you to select the
content you like and have it delivered directly to you.
Our news
releases have an RSS feed. To use the feed, you'll need a news
reader.
News readers
There are many different readers available, some of which are
accessed using a browser, and some of which are downloadable
applications. They all allow you to display and subscribe to the
RSS feeds you want.
To help you find a suitable news reader, get help
from
Google
(external site).
Some services also allow you to customise your own homepage and
include RRS feeds from various sources e.g. My Yahoo
(external link).
Subscribing to an RSS feed
Once you have a news reader, all you have to do is to decide
what content you want. Look for the orange RSS button like the one
above.
By clicking on the RSS button you can then subscribe to that news
feed in various ways, including by dragging the URL of the RSS feed
into your news reader or by cutting and pasting the same URL into a
new feed in your news reader.
To subscribe, right click on the RSS button and select 'copy
shortcut' or 'copy link location' to copy the location (URL) of the
feed. Follow the instructions for your particular news reader, and
then paste this location wherever it asks for the location of the
service you wish to subscribe to.
