Over the period 2011 to 2015, the Council will
have to find approximately 30% savings.
The Council is implementing a package of
measures to save around £2million in 2012/13 with the aim of
maintaining front-line services, maximising efficiency and
minimising redundancies. This package amounts to around 12.5% of
the budget.
Local people and stakeholders were
invited to give their views in a consultation exercise in
September 2011. The Council considered all the responses at its
meeting on 19 October 2011 and formally approved a series of
proposals.
The £2m savings identified for 2012/13 are
spread across all service areas and include a range of measures
which will enable the Council to reduce costs or increase
income.
It is anticipated that further significant
savings will be required in future years. Further information will
be provided here when it is available.
