In 3 years out of 4, elections are held in 18 out of the 25 wards that represent West Lancashire Borough Council, usually on the first Thursday in May.

If you wish to stand as a candidate in the Parish elections or the Borough Council elections taking place on Thursday 2 May 2019, nomination packs are available from 52 Derby Street or via the website. The briefings for Candidates and Agents were held on Monday 11 March 2019.

You can collect printed copies of the nomination packs from the Elections Office, Council Offices, 52 Derby Street, Ormskirk, L39 2DF.

To vote in the 2019 Elections, completed applications to register must be received by the Elections Office by the deadline of 12 April 2019 (inclusive).
Once you are registered, you do not need to apply again unless your circumstances change, for example if you move home.
You can apply to register at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.
Your application to vote by post must be received by 5pm on 15 April 2019.
If you are not yet registered, the deadline to apply to vote by post is still 5pm on 15 April, but your application to register to vote must have reached the registration officer by 12 April 2019.
If it hasn’t arrived by Friday 26 April 2019 (4 working days before polling day), or you subsequently lose it, you can get a replacement ballot paper in person from the elections office, up until 5pm on polling day. You will need identification.
If you have spoilt your ballot paper or postal voting statement, you can get a replacement until 5pm on polling day. Do not destroy or throw away your postal ballot papers. You will need to return them before you can get a replacement.

If you are amending an existing proxy vote or changing from postal to proxy, you must return your application by 5pm on 15 April 2019.
New proxy applications (where you were previously going to vote at a polling station) must be received by 5pm on 24 April 2019.
