COVID-19 advice to food businesses

The Council understands that businesses may look to change their business model and diversify in order to maintain their business during this time. We have prepared a guide (PDF, 254Kb) for businesses that are looking to make provision for food takeaways and deliveries where they have not done so before. Further advice is also available from the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health. The Food Standards Agency has also produced a general guide for food businesses at Gov.uk

The Food Safety Section, which forms part of the Commercial Safety Team, investigate outbreaks of food poisoning and certain other infectious diseases reported to the division by Public Health England.

During an investigation an officer will contact the person affected by the infection to try and find the cause and stop it from spreading. We will handle any information provided to us in accordance with our Privacy Notice (PDF, 9Kb).

Fact sheets on food poisoning and infectious disease can be obtained from Public Health England (external link)
