More Positive Together
What is More Positive Together?
More Positive Together and MPT Steps is a Lancashire partnership project which will aim to engage with over 4000 residents who may need help to improve their skills, well being and employment prospects.
Who is eligible
MPT welcomes referrals from residents of working age who live in West Lancashire and require some support with seeking employment, education or training.
We need to check that you have the right to live and work in the UK, we are required to record your National Insurance number to uniquely identify you and will need you to provide this as soon as possible.
We need to check if you are:
- Not working and unemployed, which means you are currently looking for work and may be receiving unemployment benefits of some kind, or;
- Not working and unemployed, which means you are not currently looking for work for some reason.
How do I apply
If you feel you would benefit from this type of support you can:
- Fill in the self-referral form (pdf 90kb) and we will contact you.
- Come along to one of our events.
- If you live in a West Lancashire Borough Council property, you can ask your housing officer to refer you.
If you have any questions, you can contact the More Positive Together Team on 01695 577177 or email MPT@westlancs.gov.uk.
What support will be offered?
If you are eligible to join the programme, MPT will offer a tailored, person centred approach to empower and support people to move closer to the labour market through accessing education, training, volunteering and work placements
We will work in partnership with local services to ensure that support is offered for any other issues that may arise. A clear action plan will be developed to ensure that the customer is aware of their own, and others, responsibilities.
The MPT Officers cannot give more specialised support but through talking about problems they will advise you on where to ask for expert advice on things like debt, mental health, drugs and alcohol, contacting Social Care or other support organisations.
How do I make a client referral?
If you work for a professional organisation and wish to make a referral on behalf of your client, please email MPT@westlancs.gov.uk.
If you feel the customers support is urgent, please ask to speak to MPT Manager
What happens next?
Once a referral has been received, an MPT Officer will be in touch to arrange an appointment to complete the entry form. They will also carry out eligibility checks.
If you have any further questions about the project, please do not hesitate to contact us.
