Direct debit makes annual subscription easier for garden waste subscribers

Our Garden Waste Collection Service is used by thousands of residents across West Lancashire and this spring we have made the subscription process much easier, with the introduction of direct debit.

The new subscription year begins on 1 June 2021 and residents will be able to subscribe through their self-service account on the Council website from 29 April 2021. To guarantee no interruption in service, residents who are currently subscribed should sign up for the new subscription year before 31 May 2021.

Heidi McDougall, West Lancashire Borough Council's Corporate Director of Place & Community, said: "With more people discovering the joys of gardening over the last 12 months, this is a great time to sign up for our garden waste collection service online.

"Last year we had more people signing up than the year before, with over 90% signing up online. Following feedback from residents, we have introduced a new direct debit service for garden waste subscriptions. We know that residents want to continue to receive the service without having to remember to re-subscribe each year and they can now do this by signing up to our new direct debit service online."

Residents who subscribe for 2021/22 by direct debit will have their subscription automatically renewed every year, unless they choose to cancel the service.

The cost of the service remains the same this year and further information including the cost for additional bins is available online. New customers can sign up at any time and purchase their brown bin online. To make your bin easily identifiable to our collection crews, please add your house number to your bin.
