Give your views on proposals to change control order for dogs

We would welcome residents' views on new rules for dogs in the following places:

  • Ormskirk Rugby Club – dogs to be kept on a lead
  • Tarleton Rugby Club – dogs to be kept on a lead
  • Tarleton Cricket Club – dogs to be kept on a lead
  • Enclosed children's play area, Station Rd, Hesketh Bank – dogs to be excluded
  • Enclosed sports area, Evermore Hub, Digmoor – dogs to be excluded

Dogs are already excluded from a number of children's play areas under the Council's Public Space Protection Order, and the restrictions have been successful in keeping these areas safe for children.

These new places have been suggested after suggestions by local people and if the new rules are agreed they will form part of the order.

Full details of the proposals will be on the Council website www.westlancs.gov.uk/yourviews along with details of how to give your comments. The consultation runs until 13 December 2019.

Heidi McDougall, Corporate Director of Place and Community, said: “Keeping children safe in play areas and sports facilities is very important but we also recognise that dog owners also need to be able exercise their pets in a responsible manner. We want to hear the views of all sides on these matters and I would encourage people to give their comments so they can be taken into account when the Council makes its decision.”
