Government’s ‘Green Homes Grant’ could pick up the bill for residents' energy-saving improvements
If you're a resident in West Lancashire, you may be eligible to claim up to £10,000 per property to help keep you warm in winter.
Green Homes Grants are available to qualifying residents via ‘Cosy Homes in Lancashire’ (CHiL) - the Affordable Warmth initiative established by Local Authorities in Lancashire with the aim of reducing fuel poverty across the County.
The grant scheme is available to owner-occupiers, private tenants and social tenants, although a contribution from a landlord will be required for all rented properties.‘CHiL’ can help you access the scheme which covers the cost of installing energy saving measures. These can include measures such as solid wall insulation and renewable heating technologies, to make your home warmer now and in the future and ‘CHiL’ will pick up the bill.
This funding does not cover gas boiler replacements.
Councillor Jenny Wilkie, West Lancashire Borough Council portfolio holder for Housing and Landlord Services, said: “We’re really encouraging all residents who are struggling to heat their home in winter to get in touch today and find out if you are eligible for a Green Homes Grant. It only takes a few minutes, costs nothing and could help you keep warm in the cold weather."
To be eligible your combined household income must be no more than £30,000, with savings of less than £16,000, and your home must have a low Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of D,E,F or G.
The scheme closes in December so please act quickly. For full details on eligibility and to find out how to apply please visit www.chil.uk.com or call 03306 061 488.
