New homes on Beechtrees are really beginning to take shape as significant progress is being made on the construction work for 36 new houses in the £4 million scheme.
The two-bedroom houses will provide much-needed homes and the development will greatly enhance of this part of Digmoor, Skelmersdale. The houses are being built on land where the Council has demolished nine blocks of flats and four houses.
Council staff expect the new homes will available to rent in the summer and more information will be available soon. Anyone interested in expressing an interest in one of the new homes must be registered with HomeFinder, whether or not they are a council tenant, so they can bid for the properties when they are advertised through that system. For more information on how to register on HomeFinder go to HomeFinder (external link) or contact 01695 585271.
The scheme has been significantly expanded, as the original proposals envisaged the building of 14 homes. These homes will represent the third new batch of Council housing provided by the authority in recent years and the Council is looking at opportunities to build additional new homes in the future.
Councillor Jennifer Forshaw, portfolio holder for Housing and Landlord Services, said: "I am delighted with the progress that has been made on these new homes and look forward to the time when the Council can welcome new tenants to live in them."
