Exciting celebrations to show that we really love Ormskirk Market

Don’t miss the wonderful array of entertaining attractions being planned as Ormskirk celebrates its much-loved market.

Ormskirk Market is held every Thursday and Saturday and dates back to 1286. On 25 and 27 May 2017 it will be joining more than 1,200 markets across the country for the annual Love Your Local Market celebrations.

Love Your Local Market highlights the importance that our market plays in the heart of our communities, not only for retail but as valuable community assets for residents and visitors alike. Ormskirk Town Centre Management Group is planning a line up of entertainment to complement the regular market stalls, including music, and family friendly entertainment and activities, historic displays and the Ormskirk Gingerbread Trail. Last year’s celebrations were a great success and organisers are hoping this year’s attractions will be equally popular with market visitors.

Love Your Local Market is a great celebration of our existing market and its traders. But to help make the weekend even more special applications are being welcomed from young traders aged 18–25 to take stalls on Ormskirk Market on either day of this event. As an exclusive offer just for Love Your Local Market 2017 the Council is able to help these budding market traders with free public liability insurance and a free pitch, subject to availability. Contact the market team for more details on 01695 585105.

Any new and current traders or independent retailers that would like to contribute to this wonderful occasion for the town with decoration, entertainment, fancy dress or promotional offers can contact the Council's Economic Regeneration team on 01695 712645.

John Harrison, West Lancashire Borough Council Director of Development and Regeneration, said: “Ormskirk Market is a fantastic asset for West Lancashire and we are very pleased to be able to take in Love Your Local Market again this year. There will be some great entertainment for all the family so come along and join in with the celebrations.”
