Summer Fun with Active West Lancs!

Want to lose a little weight this summer? Active West Lancs has some great free sessions to help you 'Move it and Lose it' over the coming weeks.

The perfect way to stay in shape for mums, dads and baby, our Buggy Bootcamps are fun, outdoor exercise classes which allow you to exercise with your little one right next to you, no childcare needed!

Classes take place in the Firbeck Play Area, behind the Ecumenical Centre in Skelmersdale, on Wednesdays and Coronation Park in Ormskirk on Thursdays between 10am and 11am on both days.

Another outdoor fitness activity for the summer is the Walk off the Weight Challenge at Richmond Park, Burscough, on Tuesdays between 10am and 11am and Coronation Park, Ormskirk, on Wednesdays between 1pm and 2pm. Classes are pretty social so people can walk, talk, move it and lose it.

There is no need to book for either class, just turn up on the day. For more information call 01695 555804 or email activewestlancs@westlancs.gov.uk.

Councillor Yvonne Gagen, portfolio holder for Leisure, said: "These free outdoor classes are great way of losing weight so come along and try them out. You could also make some new friends as well.

"Our Active West Lancs initiatives shows how the Council is working to meet one of its key priorities to ensure the conditions are in place for people in West Lancashire to live healthy and fulfilling lives."

Fancy trying Tai Chi? Active West Lancs are holding classes in Tawd Valley Park on Saturdays between midday and 1pm. People taking part should meet at Skelmersdale Library at 11.45am and wear non-restrictive clothing and comfortable footwear.

For more information call Heather Reade, Tai Chi and Qi Gong Master, on 0745 0954900 or email info@HeatherReade.co.uk.

Want to get back into football? Walking Football is exactly what it sounds like – a standard game of football where players walk instead of run. It is fun, friendly and can help you feel fitter and healthier. Active West Lancs are joining forces with the Skem Veterans Association and Wigan Athletic Community Trust to offer free sessions on Wednesday evenings, 5pm – 7pm, at Evermoor Hub Community Centre, Digmoor, Skelmersdale. Sessions are aimed at Over 50's!
