West Lancashire Borough Council shortlisted for two awards
West Lancashire Borough Council has been shortlisted for two national awards hosted by the Local Government Chronicle.
The Council has been shortlisted for the "Partnership Award" in recognition of the support put in place for residents and businesses during the Covid pandemic working closely with local partners. This included a dedicated Freephone helpline to help those who were clinically vulnerable to access the support they needed and supporting local businesses by issuing Covid business support grants in the region of £39million.
In addition, West Lancashire is also through to the finals for the "Outstanding Individual Contribution Award", which is a special award for local government employees to showcase resilience, compassion, flexibility, innovation and creativity to cope with adversity.
To be shortlisted is an achievement in itself and we are very proud to get this far.
Leader of the Council, Councillor Ian Moran said "I am delighted that the excellent partnership working we have here in West Lancashire has been recognised at a national level and that the dedicated work of one of our Council Officers is being showcased as outstanding. We have all pulled together and risen to the challenges presented by the virus to deliver what matters most for our local economy and communities".
