West Lancashire moves into "Tier 3 - Very High" Covid Alert Level
West Lancashire will move into "Tier 3 - Very High" Covid Alert Level from midnight tonight. This will mean additional restrictions that must be followed by residents and businesses.
Pubs and bars will close from 00:01 on Saturday and residents will only be allowed to socialise with people they live with or those in their social bubble in any indoor setting or private garden or at most outdoor hospitality venues and ticketed events. From 00:01 on Monday, the following venues will also close:
- Licensed clubs
- Adult gaming centres
- Bingo halls
- Bookmakers and betting shops
- Children's soft play centres
- Car boot sales will also be prohibited
The decision is accompanied by a support package to minimise the impact on Lancashire's businesses and residents and local arrangements and funding will also be introduced for Test and Trace to give more control of the contact tracing to help stop the spread of virus. Further information for businesses required to close can be found at https://www.westlancs.gov.uk/business/business-advice-and-support/coronavirus-covid-19-support-for-businesses/business-support-grants.aspx.
Councillor Ian Moran, Leader of the Council, said " We need everyone to follow these restrictions to stop the spread of the virus and keep our communities safe. It is really important we act quickly and follow all the national guidance to wash our hands regularly, wear face covering and keeping a safe distance apart so we can move out of the highest level of restrictions as soon as possible".
