West Lancashire Design Awards 2017
The West Lancashire Design Awards take place every two years and aim to acknowledge and promote the importance of good quality planned development and building design.
The design awards are judged in five categories:
- New residential developments, including extensions to existing properties
- The refurbishment and/or conversion of existing buildings
- Commercial/community-based developments
- Schemes and developments that promote the use of sustainable development or have a 'green' theme
- Landscaping and open space proposals
2017 winners now confirmed
Nominations in this year's awards opened in February 2017 with the shortlisted sites being drawn up in June and July. Judging of these shortlisted schemes took place on 12 September; the results are set out below:
Residential category
Winner: Extension to Needless Inn Barn, Lathom
Commendation: Firbeck Housing Renewal, Skelmersdale
Commendation: 29A Junction Lane, Burscough
Commendation: 1 Thornhill, off Granville Park, Aughton
Commendation: 46 Granville Park West, Aughton
Commercial category
Winner: Moor Hall Restaurant, Aughton
Commendation: Hurlston Hall Golf Club, Scarisbrick
Conversion/adaptation category
Winner: Moor Hall Restaurant, Aughton
Commendation: Roberts Library/6th Form Common Room, Scarisbrick Hall School
Sustainable development category
Winner: Tech Hub, Edge Hill University
Landscaping
Winner: Garden at 308A Prescot Road, Aughton
Commendation: Moor Hall Restaurant, Aughton
