Who We Are

Development and Regeneration Services at West Lancashire Borough Council take your privacy very seriously and will keep your personal data secure at all times.

Your Data

We will use your personal data as part of the Council's statutory duties in relation to the collection and processing of comments pertaining to consultations on planning policy, the Community Infrastructure Levy, and any other strategic planning work, and the role such representations and correspondence make in helping shape planning-related policies and strategies.

Retention of Information

If you have provided your personal data by consent (i.e. in cases where it is not required by legislation), you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time (contact details are provided on the Level 3 Privacy Notice). If this is the case, we will delete your personal data from our systems and any hard copies will be securely shredded.

We have a data protection regime in place to oversee the effective and secure processing of your personal information, and also use appropriate technical safeguards to keep your information secure.

We will retain some of the personal data that we hold about you. This will be used to help analyse responses, to provide an audit trail, and to try to prevent impersonation. Personal data will be held securely by the Council and will be retained for the lifetime of the Local Plan, or following the adoption of other planning policy documents (for a maximum 15 years). After the retention period expires we will delete your personal data from our systems and any hard copies will be securely shredded.

Third Parties

The Council will publish comments received in relation to planning consultations in the interests of local government transparency. Comments will be published on the Council's web site and will be available for the public to view. Alongside the comments we may display organisation names, but we will not publish any other personal data of representors. We may share personal data with other services within the Council, and with third parties including the Government's Planning Inspectorate for the purpose of planning examination.

Transfer of Data

We will not transfer your personal data to a country outside of the EU.

Automated Decision Making

We do not engage in automated decision making using your personal data.
