WEST LANCASHIRE BOROUGH COUNCIL

NOTICE OF CHANGE IN GOVERNANCE ARRANGEMENTS

Section 9KC (2) of Part 1A Local Government Act 2000

West Lancashire Borough Council has resolved to make a change in its governance arrangements to move from the current a Leader and Cabinet (executive) system to a committee system.

This decision was made at the Full Council meeting on 12 October 2022.  The council resolved, "That the council adopts the committee system form of governance with effect from the annual council meeting of the Council in 2024.”

The main features of the new arrangements are that decisions currently made by the Cabinet and Cabinet members will be made by politically balanced committees.

As a result of the resolution, it will be necessary for significant changes to the constitution to be made, these changes will approved by full Council.

The change to the governance arrangements will have effect from the Annual Council Meeting in May 2024.
