Proposed changes to Council pay & display car parks

Notice is hereby given that West Lancashire Borough Council proposes to make a new Off-Street Parking Places Consolidation Order for Council-operated car parks in Ormskirk.

The proposed Order would consolidate existing parking arrangements into a single updated Order and introduce changes including revised parking tariffs, charging hours of 8:00am to 6:00pm Monday to Saturday, new 30-minute free parking provisions, permit arrangements, electric vehicle charging bay conditions and measures to support future cashless parking systems.

In accordance with the statutory process, the Notice of Proposal, Statement of Reasons, Draft Order and Schedule are available to view using the links below.

Any person wishing to object to, support or comment on the proposed Order must do so in writing no later than 8 October 2026.

Existing charges and hours

Charges to use the Council car parks in Ormskirk, which are applicable Monday - Saturday 08.30 am - 5.30pm are as follows.

All car parks are free after 5.30pm (until 8.30am) and all day Sunday and on Bank Holidays.

Short stay car parks up to 4 hours

Bus Station, Lunesdale, Market Way, Park Pool, Park Road and Wheatsheaf

£1.00 for up to 3 hours
£2.00 for up to 4 hours

Long stay car parks up to 9 hours

Hants Lane:

£1.00 for up to 3 hours
£2.00 for up to 9 hours

Hutton Way and The Stiles:

£1.00 for up to 3 hours
£2.00 for up to 4 hours
£3.00 for up to 9 hours

Derby Street:

Monday - Friday

up to 30 minutes free (parking ticket must be obtained and displayed)

70p for up to 1 hour
£1.10 for up to 2 hours
£1.60 for up to 3 hours
£2.00 for up to 4 hours
£3.00 for up to 9 hours

Saturday

up to 4 hours free (parking ticket must be obtained and displayed)
£3.00 for up to 9 hours
