Yew Tree Farm

We invited comments on the masterplan to guide the development of the Yew Tree Farm site in Burscough. The consultation ran until 5pm on Friday 21 November 2014.

Licensing policy

We invited local people and businesses to comment on the draft Licensing Policy – the document that will set out how the Council will continue to exercise its powers under the Licensing Act 2003. The consultation period ran from 1 August to 31 October 2014.

Burscough neighbourhood plan

We received an application from Burscough Parish Council, who wish to prepare a Neighbourhood Plan for their area. The consultation was open from 3 September to 17 October 2014.

Conservation area appraisal consultation

We sought the views of local residents on two draft character appraisals: Junction Lane Conservation Area and Fulwood Avenue / Douglas Avenue Conservation Area.  The closing date for comments was Friday 26 September 2014.

Business survey

If you own or run a business which is based in West Lancashire, we invited you to share your views and take part in the bi-annual business survey. The survey closed on Friday 1 August 2014. Thank you to all those who have submitted business surveys.

Additional CCTV cameras

In 2014 the Council made money available for additional CCTV cameras in Scarisbrick, Tarleton, Downholland and Burscough and invited people to give their views on where the cameras should be located. The closing date for comments was 31 July 2014.

Review topics

The Council’s Corporate and Environmental Overview and Scrutiny Committee invited local residents to submit topic suggestions for reviews to be included in their work programme for 2014/15.  Through its work the Committee will bring forward appropriate recommendations to Cabinet and Council. Improving Ormskirk town centre

Businesses, market traders, organisations and residents were invited to give their views on major schemes to improve Ormskirk town centre. The consultation ran from 30 June 2014 to 27 July 2014.

Citizen and Stakeholder Survey 2014

The Council carried out surveys to gather the views of residents and stakeholders on spending priorities, community safety and satisfaction with important services. The results are being used by the Council as it makes plans for services, efficiencies and savings.

Housing Strategy

A range of surveys and research studies are carried out by the Council in relation to housing strategy. These include research to understand housing need, housing markets and economic issues.

Skelmersdale town centre

Extensive consultation has been carried out on the proposals to regenerate Skelmersdale town centre.

Housing strategy consultation

We carried out consultation on a draft housing strategy, which  aims to provide good quality housing that meets people’s changing needs and is located within pleasant, safe and sustainable communities. Residents and other interested parties were invited to review the draft and give their views. The public consultation process  closed on 28 February 2014.

Community Infrastructure Levy

The Council consulted on a 'Community Infrastructure Levy' (commonly called 'CIL') for West Lancashire. CIL allows local authorities to raise funds from developers who are undertaking new building projects in their area. The money can be used to pay for a wide range of infrastructure needed as a result of development. The West Lancashire Borough Council Community Infrastructure Levy Charging Schedule (WLBC CIL Charging Schedule) was adopted at Full Council on 23 July 2014. It took effect on 1 September 2014.
